Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0788976A1] A mouth (2) of a container (1) has a recess (3) and a boss (4) below the recess which are formed in and on its outer circumferential surface. An intermediate stopper (5) made of synthetic resin and having a latching portion (11) engaged with an outer lid (18) is fitted over the mouth. The intermediate stopper comprises an inner tube (6) and an intermediate tube (7) which jointly grip the mouth such that a ridge (15) provided on an inner circumferential surface of the intermediate tube is held in pressure contact with the recess. An embrittled line (22) is formed to extend circumferentially in the inner circumferential surface of the intermediate tube in a position contiguous to an upper or lower edge of the recess. An outer lid (18) made of synthetic resin having a softening temperature higher than both the softening temperature of the synthetic resin of the intermediate stopper and the boiling point of water, and having higher hardness than the synthetic resin of the intermediate stopper is fitted over the intermediate stopper. An engagement portion (19) provided on the outer lid is engaged in vertical relation with the latching portion. An outer tube (16) as a tubular portion of the outer lid is held in pressure contact with an outer circumferential surface of the intermediate tube. A lower end (20) of the outer tube is located in a position corresponding to any one of outer and lower edges and a middle region of the ridge, and is supported by a lower support portion (21) formed around the intermediate tube. An embrittled portion (24) is formed to extend from a lower end (23) of the intermediate tube to the embrittled line. <IMAGE>
