[origin: DE19535145A1] The freezer (10) has 2 separate freezer compartments (12,13) of different storage capacity, contained within a common thermally insulated housing (11), each provided with a respective evaporator (15,19) supplied with a refrigeration medium via a compressor. The evaporators are connected in series , with the evaporator (19) for the compartment with the greater storage capacity selectively disconnected from the refrigeration circuit and acting as a reservoir for the refrigeration medium.
