[origin: EP0790193A1] The container made, e.g. from moulded polypropylene, coated card or PVC, has a lid (3) made from an upper metal layer (5) stuck to a thermo-seal layer (6) which is detachable from the rim (2) of the container by pulling on a tongue (10) fixed to the lid. The tongue (10) is made from a layer of metal foil which covers the whole of the metal surface of the lid and is attached to it across one lateral segment (14) by a layer of a material (12) which adheres to both metal layers. The adhesive material (12) covers the whole of the under surface of the tongue, and is partially coated with a non-adhesive varnish (13). The adhesive material is an ethylene acid acrylic copolymer, and the varnish is a nitrocellulose varnish.
