Abstract (en)
The die for a continuous casting installation consists of two counter-rotating caterpillar tracks made up of links with shell structures (81, 91) shaped to form jointly a die cavity with a circular cross section (10). The die comprises: (a) shell structures (81, 91) with mating edges (82, 92) which are movable relative to one another perpendicular to the track circulation direction; and (b) guided and loaded track links that successively reduces the cross section (10) within the zone of interaction of the two caterpillar tracks.

Eine Raupenkokille (3) für eine Stranggußanlage (1) umfaßt zwei einander gegenüberliegende, gegensinnig umlaufende Raupenketten (5, 6), die zwischen ihren zusammenwirkenden Kettentrumen (51, 61) den Kokillenhohlraum (7) begrenzen, wobei die Kettenglieder (8, 9) der beiden Raupenketten (5, 6) im Bereich der zusammenwirkenden Kettentrume sich zu einem Rundquerschnitt (10) ergänzende Schalen (81, 91) bilden. Um ein einwandfreies, gießtechnisch hochwertiges Strangmaterial zu erreichen, weisen die einander zugeordneten Schalen (81, 91) ineinandergreifende, sich quer zur Umlaufrichtung relativbeweglich abstützende Längsränder (82, 92) auf und sind die Kettenglieder (8, 9) im Bereich der zusammenwirkenden Kettentrume (51, 61) im Sinne einer Reduktion des Rundquerschnittes (10) druckbelastbar. <IMAGE>
