[origin: EP0791550A2] The winding machine for paper has two roller drums one of which has a perforated mantle (10) enclosing a stationery pressure chamber connected to a supply of compressed air (31). The cavity between the winding-on upper roll of paper and the two winding support rollers is partially closed by a longitudinal seal (6). The seal around the cavity is completed by end-seals (34) at the support roller (8,9) and paper roll ends. Pressure chamber (15) longitudinal seals (21,22) create a pressure zone (9a) between the longitudinal seal and the point at which the winding roll (7) rests upon the supporting roller drum (9).
