Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0792591A1] Manufacturing fabric which becomes tacky on heating (1 in fig.), in which a textile base (2) is coated with a point arrangement of tacky polymer particles (3), comprises: (i) using a silk-screen printing frame (4) to place, on a transfer support with a smooth regular surface, an underlayer (5) of polymers, in paste form or in suspension in a solvent, whose melting point is greater than the temperature at which the material becomes tacky (Tt); (ii) transferring the particles obtained to the textile base (2); applying tacky polymer particles (10) to the underlayer (5); and (iii) rolling off the fabric thus obtained (1) in a heat and/or irradiation enclosure which ensures crosslinking and/or acceptable fusion of the paste or dispersion. Preferably tacky polymer particles (10) are sprinkled onto the top of the underlayer (5). The transfer support (6) is a continuous cylindrical belt tangential to the silk screen (4) and the base material (2). Underlayer particles are chosen from polymers with melting points higher than Tt, such as polyethylene, aminoplastic mixtures, acrylic resins, aminoplastic resins, and polyurethanes. Tacky polymer has granular size 60-200 mu m and is selected from polyamides, polyesters, polyurethanes, and polyethylene.
