Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0792706A1] The cylinder consists of a hub (2), a coaxial shell (3) and two supporting and centering flanges (5,6) between them. Each flange has a truncated conical surface (51,61) which engages with a corresponding surface (34,35) on the inside of the shell situated in a zone in which variations in the shell's inner diameter as a result of expansion are virtually nil. The flanges are pressed towards one another by springs (74), and the hub and shell also have axial stops (24,33) and pressure elements (80,81). The flanges and the shell have connecting channels (7,8,53,54) for circulating a coolant, with additional channels (32) in the shell located in the outer of its two layers (37).
