Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0792809A1] The cigarette blocks are supplied through a push ram (2) and there are brakes (12,18) to act on the blocks in a transfer zone during a slow down of the ram. The brakes increase the friction of the blocks in, or against at least one wall of, a guide channel (1). The brakes can be formed as suction channels opening into the guide channel or as pressurised medium restricting the cross-section of the guide channel. The pressurised medium is formed as a spring-elastic wall section of the upper channel wall which can be biased by a pressure ram (18).
