[origin: EP0792948A1] Ceramic thermal coating is attached to a nickel-based superalloy substrate by an intermediate layer of aluminide of nickel and/or cobalt, containing at least one platinum group metal such as platinum, palladium and ruthenium, and also containing, at least where it contacts the ceramic, at least one other metal which promotes the formation of a layer of alpha -alumina. Also claimed is a piece of superalloy so coated.
