Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0793015A1] The engine starting procedure involves detecting the oscillations in the signal corresponding to the supply voltage of the starter, or the current which flows through this starter. The supply to the starter is cut when these oscillations disappear. For each new oscillation, a period of scrutiny is established, this period having a duration which decreases with the increase in frequency of the oscillations. The supply to the starter is cut when no further new oscillation is detected within the last period of scrutiny. Within the detection circuitry there is a device which resets to zero the counter monitoring the time of scrutiny. The timing is determined by the period of a square wave pulse derived from a timer whose input is controlled by the voltage on a capacitor which is then discharged each time a signal is produced to reset the counter to zero.
