[origin: EP0793983A1] The entire front face of the boot (19) is covered in saddle fashion by a flexible tongue (1) joined in the toe area to the baseplate (3) of the binding so as to pivot at right angles to the longitudinal axis, and where it saddles the front part of the boot the tongue forms toroidally convex corrugations (7) to form troughs (8) in which the binding fasteners can slidably adjust and be tensioned. The tip area of the tongue can be hinged to the baseplate via two individually adjustable toothed-belt ratchets (9,10) which slide through the two bridges (11) on the top of the toe part of the tongue. The corrugated part of the tongue may be made of softer plastics than the remaining tongue. The fastener (4,5) ratchets operate on a step-by-step overtaking principle. The slide fastener band (6) around the shin may be non-detachably joined to the rear spoiler (3), and be divided similar to the fastener (4) and can be pulled tight to the rear via side slots in the tongue (1).
