Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0794305A1] The barrel lock key comprises a web (3) in which a notch housing (6) encloses a sliding or rolling ball (7). The ball can displace freely in the housing to engage a movable part of the barrel rotor. The ball is retained in the key web notch and orientated longitudinally parallel to the key shaft axis (1). The ball displaces parallel to the axis when it engages the barrel rotor movable part. The notch has in its edges (6a) two opposite indentations (8). These hold the ball in the notch and form at their opposite ends stops (8a) limiting longitudinal displacement of the ball. The notch is constituted by two end arched and concave parts (10,11) joined by a plane part on which the ball rolls between the stops.
