[origin: DE19608554C1] The plasma burner has a water-cooled electrode with upper and lower sections (12,13), contained at the centre of the plasma burner, provided with upper and lower jet parts (7,8), electrically insulated from one another via an intermediate piece (9). The lower section (13) of the electrode is provided by a rotationally symmetrical hollow body closed at one end, enclosing a concentric cooling pipe (14), coupled to an annular space (18) in the electrode supplied with the cooling water and projecting into a hollow space (22) of the electrode upper section (12). An annular cooling chamber (24) at the highest temperature section of the lower jet part is coupled to the latter hollow space.
