Abstract (en)
A knuckle assembly for an escapement action (200) of a piano includes a knuckle (150), a jack retainer (204), and an adjustment means acting between the jack retainer (204) and the knuckle (150) for positioning the jack retainer (204) relative to the knuckle (150). The knuckle (150) is arranged for escape of the jack (120) from engagement with a knuckle surface during depression of a piano key (102). The jack retainer (204) retains the jack (120) in an "at rest" position with the jack (120) in engagement with the knuckle surface in opposition to force of a spring (160) urging the jack (120) toward the "at rest" position. A spring brake is adapted to be mounted to a repetition support (110) of an escapement action (200) of a piano for selective contact with a spring of the escapement action (200) in a manner to adjust the spring force urging a jack (120) of the escapement action(200) toward an "at rest" position.
