Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9618111A1] Device for locating faults in underwater telecommunication links by determining the resistance of a cable conductor having a water insulation-related defect. Said device includes two terminals, one of which is to be connected to one of the underwater link conductors, while the other is for earth or sea-grounding, enabling it to supply or receive electric power. The invention, alone or in conjuction with another device of the invention, automatically provides current and voltage measurements which it is capable of processing automatically by using data from one or more data bases. The processing operation used to locate the defect cannot be falsified by the voltage-current characteristic of said defect.
