[origin: EP0796737A2] The cleaning device has a bar (6) which presses a cleaning cloth against the surface (19) of the cylinder, the cloth being moistened with cleaning fluid. Grip fingers (17) are accommodated in a channel in the cylinder. At the end of a cleaning cycle, a control signal actuates a device (27) lifting the bar clear of the fingers, one or more cams (22) being mounted on the cylinder adjacent to the fingers, a roller (21) on a lever (20) mounted on the bar working against the highest part of the cam. This part is followed by a falling portion (34) of the cam, so that with continuing rotation of the cylinder (2) the bar bears against the cylinder surface (19) following the fingers.
