[origin: EP0796813A2] The mechanism has a structure travelling in the horizontal direction and lifting tackle (12) engaging with the load and coupled to parallel hydraulic rams with synchronised piston rods (10) protruding into the space below. Only two rams are used to support the lifting tackle, their vertical cylinders (8) being rigidly fixed to the structure (7). Their dimensions, and those of the piston rods, are sufficient to absorb lateral loads caused by travel movements, wind pressure and/or an eccentrically-attached load, minimising elastic distortion so that there is no hindrance to sliding movement of the piston rods. The ends of the latter can be attached to the lifting tackle via elongated holes parallel to the rods.
