Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0798258A2] The cable guide has a guide element (7) with a guide passage (5) in a guide block (6). The passage is shaped so as to have rope entry and exit sections (5a,b) on opposite sides in a plane at right angles to the axis of rotation of the cable drum (2) and similar entry and exit sections (5c,d) in a plane parallel to that axis. The passage is shaped so that the strand (3) of cable (4) being wound or unwound is always guided tangentially to the drum irrespective of the angle of skew of the lifting end of the cable. The entry and exit sections of the passage are aligned to follow one another directly in the block.
