[origin: EP0799647A1] Equipment for coating a wire with lubricant, comprising lubricant container (1), an applicator felt (9) in continuous contact with the running wire (5) and a metering device conveying a controlled volume of lubricant from the container (1) to the felt (9). The metering device (12) has at least one pin (15) with a recess (24), which dips at controlled intervals into the lubricant in the container (1) and lifts into touch with the applicator felt (9) so that an approximately equal amount of lubricant is absorbed by the felt (9) at each contact.
