Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0799898A2] A method cuts out e.g. leather blanks. The workpiece is spread out on a resting surface for optical acquisition, using a camera. This records the contours and defective locations of the workpiece. Such locations and other characteristics peculiar to it are preferably marked by hand, for acquisition at the same time. The corresponding data are input into a computer for each workpiece. In accordance with the requirements for blanks, in terms of number, shape and quality, a cutting pattern is devised. This is stored and allocated to each respective workpiece.
