[origin: EP0799908A1] The apparatus comprises a container for electrolyte and a container for anode material with an essentially plane outlet surface which is passable for metal ions of the anode material. The surface faces the surface of the carrier element (which takes the role of a cathode) to be coated. The apparatus also includes an insulating guide screen (90) with an opening (96). The screen is located between the anode and cathode surfaces, and in a definite manner shapes the electrical flow line distribution between these surfaces. A nozzle is provided for spaying electrolyte between the screen (90) and the carrier element. The screen is provided with a collar (98) in the form of a pipe section on the boundary of its opening (96). The outlet end of the nozzle is located close to the collar (98) outside the opening (96) for spraying electrolyte in the direction of the surface of the carrier element.
