Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0799916A2] The comber, to produce a sliver has an initial drawing stage (10) with several pairs of rollers (11,12,14) and a further drawing stage (40) with a control (35,50,48) to compensate for short wave mass swings. The signals from the monitor (32) control the drive of the second drawing stage (40). Also claimed is an operation where the fibre mass (8) is drawn under control and the drawn fibre masses are brought together to be measured. The measurement signals are passed to the control (35,52,21) for the first drawing stage (10) and the control (35,50,48) for the second drawing stage (40). The sliver material is drawn on leaving the monitor (32), and laid (53).
