[origin: EP0800901A1] The material is fed onto a lower base (7) continuously moved by a conveyor device orthogonally to the predetermined width. The spreadable material (3), between the storage unit and the base, is subjected to at least one mechanical (4) and one pneumatic (6) dispersal extending over the entire spread width. The material is subjected to a regulatable further mechanical dispersal (9-22) before placement on the base. This is dependent upon a desired material distribution, particularly a size distribution over the fleece thickness (14), following the at least one mechanical and following pneumatic dispersal.
