Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0801911A1] The storage racks (1) are supported on wheels and are moved to create spaces between the racks for access. The support wheels include driven wheels which have individual control. A guide track (9) on the ground is monitored by sensors (21-24) mounted on sensing arms to ensure that the racks track correctly. The wheels run on flat profile support tracks. The guide track is similarly low profile and provides a reference for the alignment of each rack. The sensors identify the edges of the guide track and enable an accurate alignment to be obtained.
