[origin: EP0801939A2] The patient positioning apparatus includes one or several bearing elements (16, 36, 40, 48, 48') which are revolvingly arranged around at least one spatial axis (14, 38, 50, 50'). Drive devices for the rotation of one or several of these bearing elements around at least one of these spatial axes, and control devices for the control of the drive devices. The relative position of individual bearing elements with respect to each other, the spatial position of the bearing element, and/or the entirety of the bearing elements is adjustable in reference to at least one rotation axis. The spatial position of the patient is preferably adjusted by a control arrangement in dependence on a predetermined program.
