[origin: EP0802049A1] The half-tone printing method involves preparing at least one half tone printing template (1) with at least two regions (4) with uniform template opening structures which differ from region to region. A test print is performed with such a template to generate a printed image (12) corresp. to each region. Optical data corresp. to each region are compared with corresp. desired values and, if necessary, the printing parameters are varied so that the optical parameters approach the corresp. desired data for the next print.
