[origin: EP0802276A2] At the drying stage of a machine for the production of a fibre web, for paper or cardboard, a cooling unit (53,57) delivers an air stream to the carrier belt (27,35) when it is detached from the web (51). Also claimed is a web drying operation where the web is dried while carried with the belt against drying cylinders. At the end of the drying stage, the carrier belt and web are separated for the web to be carried on to the next machine process stage.
