[origin: EP0803212A1] The retractable bed comprises a rigid rectangular horizontal frame (4) with longitudinal sides (5,6) and transverse sides (7). The frame is supported by four jambs (11,12) resting on castors (2). The jamb upper ends are connected to the frame by four pivots (14,17) two of which are fixed to the bed side and two sliding on the other side of the bed. The bed has a gas actuator (23) which assists the frame towards a raised position. In this position the sliding pivots are locked by pivoting bolts (25) each having a stop (34) against which the corresponding sliding pivot is supported when the bed is loaded. the bolts have a limited degree of play with the pivots.
