[origin: EP0803325A2] The method uses a grinding machine with a workpiece shaft (14) for holding the spectacle lens (24) and a relatively displaced grinding disc (11,12). The grinding pressure is controlled in dependence on the radius of the spectacle lens at the point of contact of the grinding disc. The grinding pressure can be controlled in dependence on the angle between the radius at the momentary point of contact between the grinding disc and the spectacle lens and the line between the centre axes of the workpiece shaft and the grinding disc.
