[origin: EP0803604A1] In the wet press section of the papermaking or cardboard prodn. machine, each blanket (5,6) is separated from the fibre web (1) at the outlet from the roller press gap (4). The divergence, at least at one side of the web (1), is at a set angle on the path section (12) away from each press roller (2,3) to prevent the damp blanket (5,6) wetting the web (1) further, at least partially. The web (1) guide roller (7) can be positioned as close as possible to the roller press gap (4).
