Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0803612A1] The concrete block, especially for protecting marine or riverside structures from the effects of waves and currents, is moulded with a generally polyhedral outer surface, and has projections (4) and/or recesses (5) which give it surface irregularities similar to natural ones in the locality. The irregular shape of the block can be produced by sculpting an initial smooth block or giving it a rough outer surface coating and making a mould from it for casting other blocks in the same shape. The concrete used for the block can be coloured in the mass to give it a tone which blends in with the local rocks.
