[origin: WO9718401A1] The invention relates to a device for automatic length adjustment of cables (6, 11), with a housing (1) having a receiving means (3) and a toothed rack (4) displaceably guided in the receiving means (3). The housing (1) and the toothed rack (4) are each linked by way of a cable (6, 11) to sending means (14) and receiving means (16). When the sending means (14) is activated, the housing (1) and the toothed rack (4) can be linked using a gear or the like. In contrast, when the sending means (14) is deactivated, the toothed rack (4) acted upon with initial stress can be moved to shorten the device in order to compensate for any possible system slack in relation to the housing (1).
