[origin: EP0806258A1] A thermally insulating lining applied to a metal mould comprises a permanent first layer and a second layer which is wholly or partly renewed after each casting operation, at least the second layer comprising meta-kaolin. Also claimed is the application of such a lining in two stages. Other claims are directed to the metal mould provided with such a lining and to the use of the mould for casting ferrous metals.
