[origin: EP0990591A1] At least two weakened lines (1,2) are positioned on the mechanically produced right and left hand side of the letter envelope (5), packet or wrapper. When the envelope is produced, a tear-off strip (6) with double the thickness of paper and at least two weakened lines with one thickness of paper are produced. A second weakened line (3,4) preferably as a bend line is positioned above the first perforation line (1,2). The width of the strip matches the paper thickness. The tear-off strip is positioned preferably 10 millimetres from the inside of the envelope. A hole (8) is punched out of the bottom of the tear-off strip for gripping the inside, coloured, preferably green start (9) to the tear-off strip. The closure flap (12) on the side overlapped by the tear-off strip has a notch (11) or slot.
