[origin: WO9623751A1] A process is disclosed for preparing olefin oligomers with a molecular weight distribution Mw/Mn in a range from 1.0 to 2.4 by oligomerisation of olefins in the presence of metallocene catalyst systems. The turbidity index of the catalyst-containing reaction mixture lies in a range from 1 to 10. The olefin oligomers are useful as starting materials for preparing lubricants, fuel and oil additives, and as macromonomers.
