[origin: WO9623951A1] The proposed arresting device comprises: a sliding block (1) which can be guided in the guide track; a latch (6) which is mounted in the sliding block (1) so as to be capable of rotating (7) and, in the event of a fall, runs against stop catches in the guide track; and a securing device for securing the catch belt to the latch (6). The securing device is provided with a damping element (12) which lessens the jolt of arrest. The damping element (12) sits on a peg-like extension (11) of the latch (6). A transverse element (14) is mounted between the damping element (12) and the sliding block (1) on the peg-like extension (11) and the catch belt can be fastened to it. The transverse element (14) is part of a shackle ring (15), the two side ends of the transverse element (14) being designed as journals on which the lugs of the shackle hoop (17) sit.
