[origin: EP0807525A2] The mechanism includes first (102) and second (104) cutting blades. The first cutting blade is arranged to cut through all layers of the multi-layer tape. The second cutting blade is arranged to cut through one or more layers of the multi-layer tape, but leaving at least one layer intact and spaced at a location lengthwise of the tape with respect to the first cutting blade. An anvil holder carries first (106) and second (108) anvils arranged to cooperate respectively with the first and second cutting blades. The holder is mounted for rolling motion so that as the rolling motion widthwise of the tape occurs, the cutting operations are carried out. The first and second cutting blades are mounted on a common blade holder.
