Abstract (en)
The container is closed by a lid (6) with an outer vertical wall (7) and a lug and cam (9) mechanism. The container has the upper surface of its rim (3) shaped with concentric annular grooves (5). The ridges (11) between the grooves have a triangular cross-section. When the container is closed the ridges engage with a seal coating (10) on the inside of lid, e.g. of a polymer or rubber. Alternatively, the edge of the container rim has a truncated conical shape, sloping outwards forming an angle of some 170 - 175 degrees. This configuration means that the ridges penetrate the seal coating to different depths, making it easier to break the vacuum when the lid is opened.
