[origin: EP0807710A1] The assembly, to apply a liquid or paste coating to a paper or cardboard web, has a carrier beam mounted at least at two points across the web width. The carrier beam carries a scraper blade against the counter roller (14). Each mounting point has two spaced setting rods (6) with one end at linkages (P1,P5) at the carrier beam and the other ends linked (P2,P6) to at least one foundation (12,12'). At least one support rod (10) has one end at a linkage (P3) at the carrier beam, and the other end linked (P4) to the foundation (12'). At least one rod (6,10) has a length adjustment. Also claimed is a web coating operation with a related and/or unrelated controlled length setting of at least one setting rod (6) or support rod (10) for each mounting point, to adjust the coating scraping angle ( alpha ) between the scraper blade and the facing counter roller (14) and/or a scraper pressure unit and/or the carrier beam for positioning in a working, inactive or intermediate setting.
