Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0807730A1] The bollard, designed to control access to a prescribed area, consists of a fixed socket (51) set in the ground, a mobile post (52) which can fit inside the socket or project above it, a lock (71,75) to hold the post in its raised position, and a release mechanism (61,62) operated by a key. The bollard incorporates a component (90) which holds a key retaining member (80) in its active position as the post approaches its lowest point in the socket. A second component (73) interacts with locking member (75) in the lower position to ensure reliable locking in both raised and lowered positions.
