[origin: DE19622305C1] The rolling mill has a vertical stand of four rolls, two of which are working (3a,b) and two are support (2a,b) rolls, mounted on four upright columns (5). Each end of each working roll is carried in a floating bearing housing (8) which is located and moved by an opposing pair of beams (9), which pivot between bearing blocks (16) and slide within limits of a slot (17) and pin (12) at the pivot. Movement and positional control is provided by hydraulic cylinders (19,21) which can move the axis of each working roll parallel to, or skewed relative to the vertical plane through the support roll axes, and can force the working roll against its support roll, so that when the axis is skewed, a controlled bend can be generated in the working roll.
