[origin: EP0808736A2] An instrument panel for motor vehicles is novel in comprising two or more soft foamed plastic mouldings (6, 7, 34). These have recesses into which the instruments (10, 14, 15) and other equipment are set, and which, after assembly, continue to hold them in position. In addition, air channels are included (13, 23, 26, 27). The solid foam sections largely fill out the internal volume of the instrument panel. The equipment interlocks into the recesses formed into these sections. The foam is preferably expanded polypropylene, which may be faced with decorative leather or plastic sheet.
