Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19620695C1] This new method cleans vegetable and/or mineral oils and fats by adsorption in multiple, counterflow stages. Raw oil (e.g.) is pre-cleaned in a first stage (11), by part-used adsorbent (29), carrying some impurities. It then enters a first stage of separation (15, 16). The oil (18), pre-cleaned and pre-separated, enters a second stage (21, 23) where it contacts fresh adsorbent (3), followed by a second separation (25). Cleaned and bleached oil (2) is further processed. The novel feature of this process, is recovery and/or preparation of components (29) from the second separation stage as a sludge (25) capable of being pumped, for return to the first stage as part-used adsorbent, at all times excluding air. Also claimed is the plant to carry out the process.
