[origin: EP0808936A2] A program-controlled washing machine comprises an automatically running hygiene program which can be selected using the operating components. The program comprises heating of the washing liquid to a set minimum value, a subsequent cooling of the liquid through the addition of cold water and a removal by pumping of the cooled liquid.
