Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0808974A2] The snap-lock device (9) is used as a covered auxiliary lock for windows (2) and doors which can move about a hinge axis (3) relative to a fixed frame (1). The latter is on or near a boundary edge, and the lock has a spring-loaded latch (12) which can slide in a housing, but which cannot rotate relative to it. The latch is mounted in a housing pot (11) which sits in the circumferential surface (6) of the swinging door or window adjacent to the air-gap, and engages against an element (13) which is fastened to the fixed frame. Both the element and the latch work in combination over a circular arc (4), using wedge surfaces (26,27) which from tangents to the hinge axis. The end (17) of the latch which is guided in the pot has a similar open pot shape, in order to form a receptacle (18) for the spring (10) which is supported at the base (15) of the housing pot.
