[origin: EP0809085A1] A safety and arming mechanism for a munition, especially a mine, consists of a clockwork timer (33) which is armed by the operation of a control rod (39) with a primer. The control rod slides in the safety/arming mechanism housing and has a locking mechanism (41,58) which is activated when the rod is pulled. The locking mechanism comprises a stop (41) fixed to the control rod and interacting with a peg (58) pivoted to the housing and capable of occupying locking and release positions. The mechanism also incorporates a return spring (45) which returns the stop and rod to their retracted positions once the rod has been pulled. The clockwork timer is actuated by a slider (37) pushed by a drive member (36) and able to move freely relative to the rod (39) and driven by the stop (41) when the rod is pulled.
