[origin: EP0809258A1] A flexible electrical cable core comprises an electrical conductor (3) with a rough outer surface and a tubular thermoplastic insulating sheath (9). The inner surface (11) of the insulation (9) makes occasional local contact with the outer surfaces of the conductor, other hollow areas (7) of the latter being merely bridged over by the sheath (9). In a core manufacturing process the thermoplastic sheath (9) is extruded around the conductor and then reduced below the polymer flow temperature to bring the sheath (9) and conductor into contact with each other without polymer penetration into the conductor. A claimed electrical cable comprises one or more of the claimed cores enclosed in an inner cover and/or outer cable cover made from polyurethane.
