[origin: WO9624686A2] Single-stranded oligonucleotides capable of hybridising with the ribosomal RNA 23S of bacteria of genus Listeria, or with one of the strands of the corresponding DNA, are disclosed. The oligonucleotides are particularly useful as probes specific for genus Listeria, or for a species or group of species thereof, as applicable, in detection methods using nucleic probe hybridisation techniques.
