Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19547647A1] The description relates to a process and a device for monitoring a fuel metering system of an internal combustion engine. The fuel is conveyed by a pump from a low-pressure to a high-pressure region and from there can be metered into the combustion chambers of the engine by means of injectors controllable in accordance with operative characteristics. A sensor provides a pressure signal characterising the pressure in the high-pressure region. The pressure signal is compared in predetermined operating conditions with an expected value and a faulty pressure signal is recognised depending on the comparison.
