Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0811428A2] The separator pumps the suspension into a cylindrical swirl chamber via a tangential input duct (27). The outlet from the swirl chamber is offset from the vertical axis of the chamber and feeds off axis into a hopper and into a cylindrical chamber (1) in which paddles (18,19,20) rotate about a central axis. The separated components are drawn out from the stirred chamber at different levels according to their densities. Fluid is pumped into the stirring or separation chamber from a perforated grid under the bottom stirrer, and above the outlet (32) for the most dense component. The tapering hopper is between the outlet of the swirl chamber and the inlet of the separating chamber.
